Sesame Kale Smoothies

This week’s episode is about the alkaline diet which focuses on replacing acidic foods with the opposite: alkaline foods. The pH of range is 0 to 14. Acidic foods range from 0 to 6.9. Neutral is 7. Alkaline is 7.1 to 14. Some people believe that acidic foods lead to illness therefore think that including more alkaline foods will balance it out. There isn’t any evidence of this theory, but if it works, there is no great harm because the alkaline diet is mostly plant-based, high in fiber, and nutrients.

Alkaline Foods - most fruits and vegetables, soybeans and tofu, whole grains, most nuts, sesame seeds, legumes, and greens

Acidic Foods - dairy, eggs, meat, refined grains, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine, peanuts, walnuts, fish, shellfish, lentils
