Mango Margaritas with Chile Salt

This week’s episode is all about salt! Edible salt are made from mining (aka rock salt) or from evaporation (sea salt). Salt is mostly sodium chloride. Even though too much salt in our diet may not be healthy, the sodium from salt is essential to our body.

Health Benefits:

  • Salt is the biggest dietary source of sodium which is a necessary electrolyte for our bodies, used for fluid balance and muscle function.

  • Salt may also contain calcium, potassium, iron, zinc, and iodine, which is a fortification on regular table salt.

Mango Margarita with Chile Salt and Lime

*I made these differently than the recipe, but either way makes a delicous margarita. I pureed frozen mango with some water and mixed it with a shot of tequila and lime juice. I coated the rim of the glasses with Tajin (chile lime salt). Salud!
