Cinnamon Apple Energy Balls

This week’s episode is about cinnamon: the background, types, and health benefits.

Cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka (formerly called Ceylon), India, and Myanmar, dating back to 2000 B.C.

There are two main varieties: Ceylon, which some consider to be the ‘true cinnamon’, and Cassia.

Cinnamaldehyde is the active compound in cinnamon that gives the health benefits:

  • High in antioxidants

  • May help reduce risk of heart disease

  • May help with diabetes and lowering blood sugar

  • May reduce cholesterol
